Frequently asked questions

Answers about your ID card, privacy and digital access.

Is my face or camera footage stored?

The camera is used only when you start Face DNI. Your live face is compared with the photograph in the electronic ID card chip; camera images are not kept as a copy of your verification.

What do I need to create the digital card?

You need a valid Spanish electronic ID card, an NFC-compatible phone and prior authorisation from Canal de Isabel II. Bluetooth is required to use compatible access points.

What should I do if the card cannot be created?

Check that NFC is enabled, follow the ID card positioning instructions and use Face DNI in a well-lit place. If the problem continues, contact support.

What if I want a copy of my ID card for personal use?

The free DNI Wallet app lets you carry your Spanish ID card, driving licence, health cards and many other credentials on your phone. The Canal de Isabel II card will also be available to add in a future DNI Wallet update. Download DNI Wallet from the App Store. This will let you use the Canal card without having to keep a separate app installed just for it.
